Space maintainers(post first phase)
Congratulations, you're 1st phase of orthodontics is completed!
Now we will be giving you a set of permanent space maintainers that will allow the rest of your baby teeth to fall out and your permanent teeth to erupt. We will be seeing you every 6 months to evaluate the eruption of your teeth, but if you have any concerns before your next appointment, please call us at anytime. If your permanent space maintainers become loose or broken, please call the office and we will either re-cement them or make new ones. Please be aware that there will be a fee associated with re-cementing or replacing all space maintainers more than six (6) months old. The fee for re-cementing a space maintainer is $45 and there is a $150 fee for replacing a space maintainer. The fee is due at the appointment when your appliance is re-cemented or the new impression is taken.
When you have finally lost all of your baby teeth and all of your permanent teeth erupt, the doctor will determine the next course of treatment.
It is still extremely important to continue brushing and flossing your teeth. Oral hygiene is always one of our primary concerns, and keeping your teeth (and space maintainers) clean will keep your teeth and gums healthy.
